Fabrizio Boscaglia

Fabrizio Boscaglia (Turin, 1981) is Deputy Director of the Master’s in Science of Religions at Lusófona University, where he is a Visiting Assistant Professor and a member of the LusoGlobe Research Center. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Lisbon, with a thesis on Fernando Pessoa and Islam. His research interests are mainly three: the reception, representation and presence of Islam in contemporary Portuguese thought, literature and culture; the thought and work of Fernando Pessoa, author of whom he organized the anthology O Sábio Árabe (2025); Sufism (Islamic mystics).

He is the author and coordinator of around 60 books and academic publications at national and international level, including Um Desassossego Imaginário: breve ensaio sobre Fernando Pessoa e James Hillman (2025), Il Viaggio in Oriente nella Tradizione Letteraria Portoghese: dal Cinquecento ai giorni nostri (with Catarina Nunes de Almeida, 2025), Orpheu Filosófico: a Geração de Orpheu entre Artes e Filosofia (with Paulo Borges and Pedro Vistas, 2022) and Adalberto Alves: 40 anos de vida literária (with Maria João Cantinho, 2023). Guest editor of the journals Pessoa Plural (Brown University, USA, 2016) and El Azufre Rojo (Universidad de Murcia, Spain, 2019).

Guest curator of the exhibition Divine Wisdom: the path of the Sufis at the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum (2022-23), as well as several exhibitions and bibliographic shows at the National Library of Portugal, including Arabs and Islam in Portuguese Literature and Thought (1826-1935) (2017) and The Thousand and One Nights in Portugal (with Hugo Maia and Renata Fontanillas, 2018). Coordinator of the Database of Islamic Heritage in Portugal, in the Area of Science of Religions at Lusófona University. Lecturer and consultant in Literary, Cultural and Religious Tourism at Turismo de Portugal and Lisboa Pessoa Hotel.

Collaborator with the Center for Global Studies at Universidade Aberta, member of the Philosophy Center at the University of Lisbon. Author of a book of poems in Italian (Il Ritorno dell’Anima, 2021). Coordinator for Portugal of the association for studies on Ibn ʿArabī MIAS-Latina. Director of the religions department of the association CompaRes – International Society for Iberian-Slavonic Studies. Consultant at King’s College London (London, United Kingdom, 2021-22).
